Medquiteers Right Those Wrongs
Another action packed movie starring "The Three Mesquiteers", vocalist Robert Livingstone, his constant rival for the women they meet Ray Corrigan, and ventriloquist Max Terhune and his dummy Elmer. Here they foil particularly nasty land swindle plans of Kenneth Harlan (Phineas T. Flagg) and his henchmen who include regular western bad guys Allen Connor (Reggie Allen), Yakima Canutt (Spider) and others. Julia Thayer (aka Jean Carmen) is the attractive love interest that Livingstone and Corrigan, as usual, fight over. She could actually ride a horse well and started off in film by being a double in horse riding scenes. She was in 21 films - 20 between 1933-39 and one in 1953, and is credited in 12 (incl 2 Three Stooges shorts). There is a hard to take comedy interlude involving a speech by someone who stutters and a few offensive comments out of Terhune's dummy. Livingstone sings a nice song with an uncredted western band. Terhune brings his dummy Elmer to life here and there and does some animal imitations, both for short spots so as not to get tiresome. And, yes there is enough action to keep the movie exciting - fighting, gun play, ambushes and riding. And they ride off into the prairie.
